Recenzie Tom Hanks – Caractere atipice.
Trei saptamani epuizante – Forrest Gump
Ajunul Craciunului 1953 – Salvati soldatul Ryan
Excursie in orasul luminilor – Povestea jucariilor
Trecutul e important pentru noi– Nopti albe in Seattle
Ramaneti cu noi – Codul lui daVinci
Du-te sa-l vezi pe Costas – Naufragiatul
Steve Wong e perfect – Sully
Read and be happy 🙂
Little ignorant me did not know that Tom Hanks writes. So I had to solve this problem ASAP. With a lot of mistrust in his writer skills (tI mean, seriously, you are a talented actor, director and film producer, you won two Academy Awards, you are number two in the list of the most paid actors in the world, I saw you in Carly Rae Jensen’s music video, It’s impossible to also know how to write) I started reading the book. And, oh boy, it`s a good thing I did that. The Uncommon type did not disappointed me.
But let’s get to the book. It’s a collection of stories, shorter or longer, some of them having the same characters, in different situations. Among them are scattered, every time, the typewriters. The style is simple, sometimes ironic, sometimes sad. Without pretentious words, the action is running smoothly, it does not let you get lost in too many details. I like the fact that this book has no claim to be written by the next Charles Dickens (somehow I found a similarity between these two styles) but wants to be a debut books has throws itself in the lion’s mouth with everything she has to offer.
Trying to make an analogy between his movies and the stories in the book came it out like this:
Three exhausting weeks – Forrest Gump
Christmas Eve 1953 – Save Private Ryan
A junket in the City of lights – Toy story
Welcome to Mars – Olive Kitteridge (the book with the same name is written by Elizabeth Strout)
A month on Greene Street – You’ve got mail
Alan bean plus four – Apollo 13
At loose in the big apple – Catch me if you can
A special weekend – The Polar Express
These are the meditations of my heart – Clouds atlas
Back from back in time– Sleepless in Seattle
Stay with us – DaVinci’s Code
Go see Costas – Outcast
Steve Wong is perfect – Sully
And, if we wait for another year, it looks like we’re going to see him playing Ove (my love for Ove is already declared, I`ve read the book and I saw the movie, even though it was in Swedish)
Read and be happy 🙂
